DIRECTOR OF MEDIA
Hi! I’m Skylar Harris (she/her), a Vanderbilt University junior majoring in Communication Studies with minors in Political Science and Sociology. I serve as the Director of Media for Every Vote Counts, where I enjoy making important civic information clear, accessible, and engaging for young voters. As a Georgian, I have seen firsthand how access to reliable education and information can vary across communities, from larger cities like Atlanta to small rural towns. That experience has shaped my commitment to creating digestible civic content that helps people feel informed and empowered before elections.
At Vanderbilt, I serve as the President for Vandy Votes, a nonpartisan civic engagement organization dedicated to registering students to vote and educating them about upcoming elections. I am also a Vanderbilt Admissions Ambassador, where I help prospective students and families learn more about the Vanderbilt experience, and an Admissions Intern supporting efforts to connect with future Commodores. Additionally, I serve as the Vice President of Marketing for the Vanderbilt Black Business Student Association, helping promote business education, professional development, and career opportunities for Black students. I am also the Publicity Chair for Vanderbilt’s NAACP chapter, where I support communications and outreach efforts surrounding racial justice and advocacy, as well as a member of College Council and the Public Relations Chair for Warren College.
